RI&E
The Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E) is mandatory for every organization (except for self-employed persons) to promote the health and safety of employees and reduce financial risks. An RI&E provides insight into the working conditions and safety in the workplace within your organization.
We have a distinctive view on risks and safety in organizations and support the implementation and/or testing of the RI&E as well as assist in the preparation and implementation of the plan of action.
The RI&E as a basis for healthy and safe working
The Risk Inventory & Evaluation is the foundation of your health & safety policy and is more than just a report. It contributes to a safe and healthy organization. As an employer, you are responsible for instructing and stimulating the safety behavior of your employees. A good follow-up and plan of action from the RI&E is important to counter risks and improve working conditions in a timely manner.
How do we support the RI&E?
Our sister organization PDG Health Services provides support in conducting and deepening the Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E). One of the three occupational health and safety experts, a Senior Safety Expert, an Occupational Hygienist, or an Occupational & Organizational Expert, will visit your organization in advance and will review the risks and occupational health and safety issues with you using the Working Conditions Inspection Method (IMA) methodology, supplemented with industry-specific questions.
We do this in a practical and clear manner, giving you a good understanding of which actions contribute to improving working conditions. Our team of specialists can conduct in-depth research and provide advice. For example, research into hazardous substances, noise, climate, physical strain in the workplace, and in-depth research into psychosocial workload (PSA).
Testing your RI&E
Once the RI&E has been drawn up, it must be assessed. The law requires that the RI&E be assessed by a certified occupational health and safety service/occupational health and safety expert. The assessment, referred to in Article 5 of the law, consists of a system assessment and a scope assessment.
The system test examines the entire working conditions field within the company. The RI&E is assessed on the basis of the criteria of completeness, reliability and timeliness. In addition, the Action Plan is assessed. The scope test assesses whether the RI&E adequately addresses all risks that may occur.
Keeping the RI&E up to date
The Risk Inventory & Evaluation is a living document; that is, any change in the way an organization is organized, processes or workplaces are set up, or a change in the materials used, entail a change in the risk profiles that must be reflected in the risk inventory.
Here, of course, it is recommended that every change be assessed for risks and hazards before it is implemented. In this way, the RI&E can be adjusted accordingly at the same time. It is the primary responsibility of the prevention officer to keep the RI&E up to date.
