'It's about the best outcome for the employee'
The Ons Tweede Thuis site managers have direct contact with the Labor and Health Advisor and we are in contact with the employee together. What I really like about the cooperation with De Arbodienst is that it is very accessible. De Arbodienst coaches, supervises and monitors the process. The consultants have the right knowledge and expertise and give good advice; our location manager and employee remain in control. This keeps everyone actively involved and ultimately gives the best result.
A health and safety service with its own view
De Arbodienst has its own view when it comes to occupational health services. With other health and safety services, I noticed that they were quicker to refer employees to the company doctor . The unique thing about De Arbodienst is that they put the employee first, the employee himself knows very well what he or she can and cannot do, and with a company doctor it quickly becomes very medical. Someone with a broken leg can do administrative work just fine, and the employee himself can very well indicate what the possibilities are. Then the company company doctor is not necessary. But even if someone is seriously ill, the employee and manager can make good arrangements among themselves. There is no need for a company doctor and that is what De Arbodienst assumes. A good discussion between supervisor and employee is the most important thing, and De Arbodienst provides guidance so that we can make good agreements. Protocols of the company doctor may deviate from this, but ultimately it is not about the protocols but about the best outcome and the interest of the employee.
Thinking in possibilities
I expect an occupational health and safety service to be able to think out of the box, think along in (practical) solutions, identify, take initiative and be proactive. And, of course, good accessibility is always nice. In thinking along and being proactive in signaling, I mean that if they find out that there are a lot of people with a certain illness in a department, the advisor will bring this up and look for the cause and solution. De Arbodienst is a good partner in this and looks beyond the standard laws and regulations.
