Customer review De Arbodienst Niacet RI&E

De RI&E is een wettelijk verplicht onderdeel voor organisaties om de veiligheid en gezondheid van medewerkers te waarborgen. De Arbodienst kan deze voor u toetsen, of wanneer uw organisatie zelf niet de capaciteit of expertise in huis om een Risico Inventarisatie & Evaluatie (RI&E) uit te voeren, dan kan De Arbodienst dit volledig uit handen nemen. Dat laatste doen we, naast de diensten op het gebied van verzuim en vitaliteit, ook voor Niacet, een internationaal producent in zouten voor de farmaceutische industrie. We spraken Corre Slothouber, Safety Officer bij Niacet, over de samenwerking met De Arbodienst.

Corre is certainly no stranger to safety and RI&E. Within the organization, he is the specialist in the field of safety: "As Safety Officer and Prevention Officer, I am the point of contact for safety throughout the organization. From working safely in the field, think about safe use of machinery, to noise pollution in the office. All safety issues come to me and I look for the right solution. I also provide training and initiate safety studies."

Previously, Corre conducted the RI&E itself, and Ed Mijnders of De Arbodienst then reviewed it. Ed now takes over the entire process on behalf of De Arbodienst . Corre: "The advantage of this is that someone is involved in the process right from the start. Ed is familiar with our organization and our factories. This way it costs both parties much less time. Another big advantage is that you are stronger within the organization. I have been working for Niacet for 31 years. This has given me a lot of knowledge, but the other side of it is that I might start to find some points normal. Or no longer recognize them because I work there every day. That's why I like having someone from the outside looking in. Someone with a fresh view on the whole, who also works for other organizations and can therefore give tips on how to do things better. In addition, it is valuable to be able to spar with someone, especially if they also have experience at other organizations."

Aan welke risico’s moet je denken bij een producent als Niacet? Corre: “Alle installaties zijn heel goed beveiligd, daar is niet eens het grootste risico vandaan. De grootste risico’s in onze organisatie zitten in het werken met (chemische) stoffen, het gebruik van heftrucks en de werkbezoeken van externe partners. Voor alle gevallen geldt dat als je hier goed mee te werk gaat, het risico beperkt wordt. En dat is natuurlijk het doel. Maar ook spelen er fysieke risico’s, zoals het tillen van zware zakken kan een flinke belasting zijn. Ik signaleer dergelijke risico’s en als ik in dit geval iets wil weten over arbeidsbelasting dan verwijs ik door naar een specialist, bijvoorbeeld de arbeidshygiënist van De Arbodienst. Tevens doen we zelf een aantal onderzoeken en metingen, naar bijvoorbeeld geluid of stoffen in de lucht, maar daarbovenop laten we een verdiept onderzoek uitvoeren als de waarden hoger zijn. Op de RI&E volgt dan ook een verdiepende RI&E.”

"Working with chemicals is of course different from sticking wallpaper on the wall with wallpaper glue. There should be no contamination in the products, for example. We have over 1,000 external people in the company every year, think technicians and electricians. That's why we have a safety program for all external partners who work with us, for pharmaceutical industry, no contamination should get into the products. We therefore also give internal training, to make everyone aware of rules and we also test them."

Niacet and De Arbodienst work together not only for the RI&E, but also in the field of absenteeism and vitality. Corre: "In addition, De Arbodienst not only thinks along with me in these areas, but also if I have questions about COVID-19 I can go to them. We exchange information with each other very easily, even if I have a solution to a particular problem I link it back, so that De Arbodienst can apply it again to other clients!"

"We were with another occupational health and safety service before this, and I find De Arbodienst 's RI&Es much more practical to use. You can write a lot down in an RI&E, but it has to remain workable. This works more simply: we take out all the big things, prioritize and when that's in place we move on to the next step."

"I expect a pleasant cooperation, the way it is now. Also the involvement, as I indicated at the start of the RI&E for example, works fine. This allows you to switch quickly, which I find very important. Even if people indicate problems within the organization and I don't have the answer myself or it is in connection with a legal framework, I also want to give quick feedback within the organization. Fortunately, I can get in touch quickly and often have an answer the same day. That works very pleasant!"
